What was their challenge?
Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) is a land-based not for profit facility at Egwood, near the village of Merriott in South Somerset. On 12 acres of land and woodland, it comprises animals, horticulture, nature & woodcraft areas and offers a range of activities, experiences and support services to improve health, wellbeing and opportunities for all.
We were approached by ARK at the start of 2021, they wanted to ask us to help them update their original business plan, that we had originally helped them write in 2019. They had received funding through Resonance as part of the Resonance HWCF / Business support grants for Covid-19. They also wanted us to provide an evaluation toolkit to help them capture the quantitative and qualitative data of volunteers and visitors to their organisation.
What was the support you provided / offered
The deliverables for this contract included:
1. Business Visioning Workshop on site with directors, staff and volunteers.
2. Updated 3 year Business Plan, including updated evidence of need, consultation feedback from stakeholders.
3. Evaluation Toolkit – review of current processes and report of recommendations for improvement
Updated tools and training to enable the systems to be embedded into the organisation.
What was the impact or outcome of support?
ARK at Egwood were able to successfully grow their operational team and secure additional funding from the National Lottery Partnership Fund.

We continue to work with this client and have also delivered a celebration report which has enabled them to share the impact of their work with various stakeholders.
“Marsha and her team have once again been exceptional. From the very first conversation Marsha, was able to understand what we needed support with and how best to use the funding to meet our needs. The whole process was very efficient, and focussed, but also flexible in meeting our needs and at a flexible pace, that had whole team buy in. Thank you, Marsha, and co and we will be back again”
