We’re looking for two dynamic individuals to join the Good Finance Steering Group!

At Good Finance, our goal is to be the trusted source of social investment for charities and social enterprises. In 2024, Good Finance turns seven. Since its launch, it has exceeded targets and reached over 660,000 unique users. We’ve got ambitious goals and plans for the road ahead and we’re on the lookout for two new steering group members to help guide and support in the next phase of our growth. 

We aim to achieve this by: 

  • Digital tools and resources to support organisations to make informed decisions, based on their needs and situation 
  • E-learning programmes to help people and organisations deepen their knowledge of social investment 
  • Partnerships to collaboration with individuals and organisations to build engagement and reach new audiences.

  • Participatory funding models 
  • AI and new technologies 
  • Digital inclusion 
  • Learning and training programme delivery. 

Please note, due to remit of Good Finance, this role is for UK-based individuals only. 

Who is the Steering Group made up of? 

Good Finance is a collaborative project supported by funding from Big Society Capital and Access Foundation for Social Investment. We currently have individuals/representatives from the following organisations that reach or represent our key audiences, or bring essential sector knowledge: 

  • Social Enterprise UK  
  • Locality 
  • National Lottery Community Fund 
  • Pioneers Post 
  • NCVO  
  • Better Society Capital 
  • Access  
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport 

What is the role’s commitment? 

Steering group meetings typically last for 2 hours and occur once a quarter. Members will receive an update from Good Finance to read in advance of each meeting and meeting time will be used for discussion. Each member brings relevant updates/news from their respective organisations before inputting on Good Finance areas of work. Meetings are hybrid and members are welcome to join virtually if required. 

We hope that the individual would be willing to engage with the group via email/on an ad-hoc basis outside of this commitment and is able to serve a term on the group of one year minimum .

By joining the Good Finance Steering Group, you’ll have a real influence on the future direction of the UK’s leading platform for knowledge and information about social investment. Through supporting the delivery of key tools and resources, steering group members create impact on social enterprises and charities, helping them to navigate a complicated landscape and understand finance options when they need it most.  

You’ll also meet with a collection of like-minded individuals within the sector on a regular basis providing the opportunity for collaboration beyond the realms of the Steering Group.  

Remuneration 

To encourage and support contribution from members who may not have the capacity to otherwise do so, remuneration is available to support time and capacity of steering group members who meet one of the below criteria.  

For charities, social enterprises 

You are currently working for a charity or social enterprise AND 

You have an organisational turnover of under £150,000 

For consultants 

Your work supports the development of charities and social enterprises AND 

You have an annual turnover of less than £150,000 

For infrastructure or network organisations 

Your organisation has a specific programme of work to support charities and social enterprises AND 

You are required to take time off to attend meetings/your employer does not cover time required to participate in the Steering Group. 

People who meet the above criteria will be remunerated pro rata at £800p/a.
