The City of London Corporation’s charitable funder City Bridge Trust provides grants totalling around £20m per year towards charitable activity benefitting Greater London.
Its mission is to create a fairer London and it achieves this through grantmaking, social investment, encouraging philanthropy and influencing social policy.
Since it was established in 1995, the Trust has distributed funds totalling over £400million to 4,600 organisations. Projects supported include grants to make buildings fully accessible; support for older people; services for people with mental health issues; projects providing advice and guidance; and funding towards second-tier infrastructure support for charities.
Alongside grant making, the Trust manages the City of London’s £20m Fund to support charitable organisations that want to access funding through social investment, and also provides investment readiness support. The Trust aims to position the City of London as a leader in social investment, develop the UK as a global centre for social investment and by so doing, help to grow the market.
